How to transfer your app from one Google Play Developer account to another

  1. Log in to the original Google Play Developer account and confirm you can access the app you want to transfer.

  2. Log in to the target Google Play Developer account and confirm registration is complete.

    • If you see “Why can’t I publish,” resolve any missing information first.

  3. Confirm both accounts comply with current Google Play policy guidelines.

  4. Download any reports you may need from the original account.

    • Users, ratings, reviews, content ratings, and store listing details transfer automatically.

    • Bulk export reports, payout reports, and earnings reports do not transfer.

  5. Locate the required information for both accounts:

    • Developer account name

    • Owner email address

    • Developer account transaction ID

  6. To find the transaction ID, search the account owner’s email for “developer registration fee.”

    • If you cannot find it, log in to Google Payments.

    • Select Activity.

    • Locate the developer registration transaction.

    • Copy the Transaction ID from the transaction details.

  7. If transferring a paid app or an app with in-app purchases, confirm the target account has an active payments profile.

  8. If the target account uses a different default currency:

    • For in-app purchases, the target account owner must set pricing in the new currency before republishing.

    • The app will be unpublished until pricing is confirmed and the app is republished.

    • For paid apps, currency adjustments are handled automatically.

  9. Submit the app transfer request through Google Play Developer Support using the required account information.

  10. Wait for Google to review the request. Transfer approvals typically take up to 2 business days. Once approved, Google completes the transfer and the app will appear in the target account.


Troubleshooting tips

  1. Transfer request rejected: Confirm both accounts are active and in good standing.

  2. Missing transaction ID: Retrieve it through Google Payments under Activity.

  3. App unpublished after transfer: Verify pricing for in-app purchases in the target account.

  4. Reports missing after transfer: Bulk payout and earnings reports must be downloaded before the transfer.
