How to use the Media Center plugin

Create a flexible media library to organize and display videos, audio, and rich content in your app.

The Media Center plugin lets you present a wide range of content in a visually structured way. You can add videos, audio files, text-based content, and external links from sources like YouTube, Vimeo, and Dropbox. It is commonly used for video libraries, podcasts, training content, artist profiles, albums, or weekly content series.

Requirements

  • This is a Boost plugin, available on the Standard, Growth, and Business plans.

How to use the Media Center plugin

  1. Log in, go to Builder in the left navigation

  2. Click the + button to open the Plugin Marketplace

    • Search for Media Center

    • Click Add Plugin, name your plugin, then click Add

  3. Stay in the Content tab

    • (Optional) Add an image carousel at the top

      1. Click Add Image

      2. Select one or more images from your media library

      3. Click Insert Image to display them at the top of the plugin

    • Add introductory text

      1. Use the WYSIWYG editor to add text, images, videos, or buttons

      2. This content appears above your media list

    • Add media items

      1. Click Add Media Item

      2. Upload a media thumbnail

      3. Enter a title (required)

      4. Add a summary and body content using the WYSIWYG editor

      5. Add a source URL if applicable

      6. Add a video URL (supported sources include YouTube, Vimeo, and Dropbox)

      7. Add audio details if the item includes audio

        1. Audio title

        2. Artist name

        3. Audio URL

        4. Audio image and background

      8. (Optional) Add a media date

      9. (Optional) Add an action item

      10. Click Save

    • Organize media with categories

      1. Click Categories

      2. Click Add Category, name it, then click Save

      3. Assign media items to categories to enable filtering

    • Sort and manage media items

      1. Choose manual or automatic sorting (A–Z, Z–A, newest, oldest)

      2. Use bulk actions to import media using a CSV template

  4. Click the Design tab

    • Choose the list layout for the media list

    • Choose the layout for individual media items

    • Add a background image

    • (Optional) Enable Advanced Mode to customize layouts with CSS

  5. Click the Settings tab

    • Enable or disable sharing for media items

    • Allow users to add personal notes

    • Display media source information

    • Enable or disable the info page

    • Automatically add all audio items to a playlist

    • Resume playback from the last position

    • Enable continuous playback

    • Enable shuffle for audio playback

    • Set autoplay delay

    • Enable global playlists and connect the playlist feature

    • Enable offline access

    • Enable media filtering by category

    • Display view counts

    • Highlight previously played items

  6. Click the Security tab

    • Turn on Require Login to restrict access to logged-in users

    • (Optional) Add tag-based restrictions and choose whether to match any or all tags

  7. Click the Tagging tab

    • Enter a tag name to automatically apply to users when they open this feature

    • Click Add Tag

  8. Click the Purchase tab

    • Check Require Purchase to enable

    • Choose your product type (Single Purchase or Subscription)

    • Upload an image, fill out purchase text, and success/failure messages

  9. Click the Analytics tab to see feature performance

    • View data such as daily views, top users, and engagement over time

Pro tips

  • Use categories to make large media libraries easier to filter and browse

  • Manual media entries allow video, audio, and text to live in a single item

  • For feed-driven content, consider the YouTube, Vimeo, or Media Center RSS plugins

  • Dropbox works well for hosting media as long as files are public and accessible via link
