How to use the Push Notification Action Item
Trigger automated push notifications when a user completes an action inside your app.
The Push Notification action item lets you send a push notification instantly or with a delay when a user taps a button or interacts with an action inside a feature. You can insert it into any WYSIWYG editor or any feature that supports action items, allowing you to automate messaging without needing workflows or manual sends.
Requirements

Available anywhere action items are supported (e.g., WYSIWYG, Outline Action Item Folder)

Push notifications must be enabled for your app

Title and message content are required for every triggered notification
How to use the Push Notification Action Item

Log in, go to Builder in the left navigation

Navigate to the plugin where you want to add the action

Add the Push Notification action

In a WYSIWYG editor: click Insert → Insert/Edit Action Item, then choose Push Notification

In a feature that supports actions (e.g., Outline Action Item Folder): click Add Action, then choose Push Notification

Choose the notification audience
-
Current User — sends the notification only to the user who triggered the action

Custom Segment — choose recipients by:

Selecting individual users

Selecting multiple users
-
Selecting one or more user tags

Add the Message Content

Enter a Title (required)
-
Enter a Message (required)
-
(Optional) Add an In-App Message using the rich-text editor (images, links, formatted content)

(Optional) Add an Action Item to define what happens when the user taps the notification

Set the Schedule behavior
-
Choose Send Immediately to deliver as soon as the action occurs
-
Or choose Delay and specify Days, Hours, or Minutes after the action is performed

(Optional) Add a Confirmation Message
-
This message appears immediately after the user triggers the action
-
Add custom text for the confirmation button (e.g., “OK,” “Done”)

(Optional) Enable Analytics Tracking

Turn on Track Analytics to include this action item as a metric on your dashboard

Add a Tracking Name (visible label)
-
Add a Tracking ID (3–30 characters, lowercase letters, numbers, or dashes)
