How to use the QR Scanner plugin
Let users scan QR codes and access in-app content instantly. Generate and manage QR codes from the control panel.
The QR Scanner plugin includes two main functions:

Scan QR codes from within the app to open specific content or actions

Generate QR codes in the control panel for actions like navigating to features, sending notifications, or opening web links
Requirements

This is a Boost plugin, available on the Standard, Growth, and Scale plans
How to use the QR Scanner plugin

Log in, go to Builder in the left navigation

Click the + button to open the Plugin Marketplace

Search for QR Scanner, then click Add Plugin

Name the plugin and click Add

Stay in the Content tab

Click + Add QR Code
-
Choose an action (e.g., App Content, App Settings, Push Notification, Map, Website)

If choosing App Content, select the feature or plugin to open (e.g., Notes)

Click Save to generate the QR code

After creating a QR code
-
Click Preview to see the QR code

Download it for use in print or digital promotions

Click Edit to change the linked action

Click the Security tab

Turn on Require Login to restrict access to logged-in users

(Optional) Add tag-based restrictions

Click the Tagging tab

Apply a behavioral tag when users access the plugin

Click the Purchase tab

Require purchase to access the plugin (optional)

Choose product type and customize messaging

Click the Analytics tab

View daily usage and top users

Click the Language tab

Customize the Scan button text and error messages (e.g., "Sorry, your browser does not support camera access")

Be creative with your QR code actions: Link QR codes to forms, videos, content, or purchases—you’re only limited by your imagination.

Place the QR Scanner in your app’s side or footer menu: Keeps it accessible and encourages frequent use.

Use QR codes in promotions: Direct users to in-app purchases or premium content from flyers, ads, or social media.
Troubleshooting tips

If the scanner doesn’t activate, make sure camera permissions are enabled for the app.

If a QR code isn’t working, double-check that it’s linked to a valid and active action.

Preview the QR code from the control panel before distributing it.
